August 31st, 2008, black holes, their dark work
The record is coming along just great. Laid down some 12-string guitar on a few things last week. September will be the month of percusion for us though. The percussion will be treated a little differently on this record. Well it'll be different than most records; if the guitar is dead, then so is the drumset. We will be recording two or three different snares with a variety of floor toms. No kick at all. Timpani in its place. No cymbals. Lots of tambourine and shaker. Hand claps. Anyway, I'm getting excited. In addition to Grusha and I, we'll be bringing in members of some really great local bands (can't say who right now) as consultants to help make sure we get some really great and unique beats. Really looking for an original sound on this record and I think we're moving in an interesting direction. We certainly have enough guest talent coming in to help... -r February 12th, 2008, arrangementing In the studio recording with producer Erik Wofford (What Made Milwaukee Famous, Voxtrot, The Black Angels...). Everything sounds great so far... It's such a time-consuming process when so many instruments are being recorded. We're also in the process of auditioning a new permanent drummer and a bass player. As lovely as a rotating lineup can be, it will be nice once we settle on a permanent line-up.
