YOU HAVE THE right to expect a well-designed, meticulously considered product from a band that consists of two academically-trained composers.

Under the moniker of She, Sir, M. Grusha and Russell Karloff experiment with unconventional guitar tunings and technique, and generally obsess over the aesthetics of songwriting. Unique phrasing, intricate vocal counterpoint, modal harmonies and cagey rhythms are just a few of the elements that contribute to the She, Sir sound. By combining solid songwriting with carefully constructed layers of sound and unhurried vocals --along with their education and background in Classical and Contemporary music composition-- the band achieves a sound that is unmistakably all their own and may just prove that modern indie rock yet contains undiscovered territory.

Grusha and Karloff met and began collaborating while attending music composition classes at Iowa State University in the fall of 2000. For the next few years, they continued writing and performing music in a couple different bands --both together and separately, at times. After a while, however, something became apparent to them; "we had a very specific vision for the type of music we wanted to create." --and no one else was doing it. She, Sir was formed out of the need to carry out this type of music.

After college, in the fall of 2005, Grusha and Karloff made the move to Austin, TX and spent a year galvanizing and recording the songs for their debut release. The "Who Can't Say Yes" EP was recorded in two analog studios, working closely with producer Rick Vehslage (For Those Who Know, Peel, The Happy Families) and percussionist James Vehslage (For Those Who Know, Ringo Deathstarr).

Grusha and Karloff are currently writing and recording new material utilizing a cast of friends and local musicians for their full-length debut, titled Go Guitars.
